everything around me was dim. i gazed at the east, where the sky was lightening. after a while, the stars disappeared and the buildings, trees, streets in the distance could be seen faintly. slowly, the horizon in the east was becoming reddish. the red color etended continuously and was becoming thicker and thicker. at last the sun showed its face a little, gradually into a half flaming ball, and whole ball appeared, shining brightly. everything around me was clear. what a beautiful sunrise i saw!

as we all know，trees are very useful. they are of great benefit to man as follows：first，trees provide us with wood and other products；second，their roots can allow the rain to sink in and keep the soil，so they help to prevent droughts and floods. trees can clean air and beautiful life.
unfortunately，nowadays in many parts of the world lots of people fail to realize the importance of trees. they have cut trees down in large numbers without a plan，which makes the soil washed away. they don't know where there no trees，the rain washed away the surface of the soil and this causes floods.
we ought to plant trees each year and carefully look after new trees in order not to make the forest slowly disappear. only' in this way can we make the forest serve man forever.

protection of the environment
once man did not have to think about the protection of his environment. there were few people on the earth, and natural resources seemed to be unlimited.
today things are different. the world has become too crowded. we are using up our natural resources,and polluting our environment with dangerous chemicals. if we continue to do this, human life on earth will not survive.
we realize that if too many fish are taken from the sea, there will soon be none left. yet,with modern fishing methods, more and more fish are caught.we know that if too many trees are cut down, forests will disappear. yet, we continue to use powerful machines to cut down more and more trees. we see that if rivers are polluted with waste products, we will die. yet, waste products are
still put into rivers.
we know that if the population continues to rise at the present rate, in a few years, there won't be enough food.what can we do to solve these problems?
if we eat more vegetables and less meat, there will be more food available. land for crops feeds five times more people than land where animals are kept. our natural resources will last longer if we learn to recycie them.
the world population will not rise so quickly if people use modern methods of birth control.
finally, if we educate people to think about the problems we shall have a better and cleaner planet in the future.

for example, you can reuse shopping bags by canvas bags and use them when you shop. buy durable high quantity goods for a longer life. all the durable goods may cost a little more at first. they would save your money and help save the environment in longer. before for anything away, think about how each item can be reused. the last of the three items that we must keep in mind is recycling. recycling means collecting, processing, marketing and ultimately reusing material that we once thrown away. check the yellow pages of the internet to find information about local recycle programs in your community.
